Plantation Management
Comprehensive support for oil palm growers and sustainable practices.
The oil palm plants need specific soil and climatic conditions, including pest and plant disease control. The growth of the oil palm starts after land and seed preparation. The cultivation method for oil palm includes pest and weed control, irrigation and fertilization, ablation of early inflorescences and harvesting. Therefore, plantation management of oil palm requires a combined effort from all stakeholders involved.
REPLANTING OF SMALLHOLDER BLOCKS
Replanting of smallholder blocks will be given priority by the government through the National Government's Oil Palm Intervention Program. The economic life of a palm is 18–20 years, beyond which yields are low, and challenges arise during the harvesting of fruit. The Government, through OPIC, in collaboration with other responsible stakeholders in their respective constituencies of designated smallholder blocks, will drive the oil palm replanting exercise for the development of the industry.
